We have a LOT going on in our home. 2 boys - one tween and one trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life in this mixed up world. We moved to another state 3 years ago to help my in-laws out, which is turning into a bigger project everyday. My head would be in a much different space if I didn’t make the conscious effort to do some simple but intentional acts of self-care every day, they are my lifeline.
We are living in unprecedented times. A study conducted found that 7 in 10 employees working through this pandemic are the most stressed they have ever been in their entire professional career. That was employees. How about moms volunteered to now be homeschool teachers. Or kids who have been denied the opportunity to see their friends. Those suffering from mental and emotional ailments. Parents out of work and in food lines. People living alone in isolation. Children and adults trapped in physically or emotionally abusive home environments. How can we cope through these uncertain and stressful circumstances?
If you are reading this I know you too have a lot of people who depend on you. You need to fill your cup so that you have energy left over to pour into others. By being really intentional with the things we are doing. There are simple things we can do each day that will impact the amount of stress we and those in our home (four walls) are feeling (battling). These are our fuel.
The 5 simple but intentional things you can start doing today:

Get a good nights sleep. Sleep can be illusive if we are under stress. The lack of sleep compounds a poor emotional state heightening stress, worry and anxiety. It's recommended we get at least 7 hrs of sleep a night but that can be easier said than done.
Did you know your oils can help? Applying 1 drop of Serenity or Balance to the bottom of your feet before bed helps calm the body for restful sleep. Get out in the sunshine and move your body. Remember the importance to get out each day even if its just for 15 min and go for a walk in the sun.
